The Owners:

Dave Hart - Dave received his associate’s degree from the Univ. of Connecticut in 1978. Upon graduation from UConn he worked at the Plant & Soil Research Facility at the University and quickly climbed to Farm Manager. He and his wife founded Hart's Greenhouse and Florist in 1986. In 1988 Dave left the research farm to pursue his entrepreneurial interests full time. He received the Outstanding Young Farmers Award for Windham County in 1993 and 1994. In 1995 he was recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer for all of Connecticut. This award culminated in a trip to California to the national Outstanding Young Farmer Conference. Dave & Joyce were, in 2002, awarded the Canterbury Community Service Award.

David Hart

 

Joyce Hart - Joyce received her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut in 1982 and founded Hart's Greenhouse and Florist in 1986. Joyce is responsible for starting the first Florist Shop in Canterbury. The florist shop has recently been featured in Florists’ Review Magazine. She is responsible for selecting the plant varieties that will be grown each year and is also the gift buyer for  the gift shop.

Jessica Hart – Floral Designer. Jessica is the second generation here at Hart’s. She is a topnotch floral designer, excelling in funeral, everyday ,wedding and party designs. Jess graduated from Woodstock Academy in 2001, and has recently graduated from the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture with a Bachelor’s  Degree in horticulture. She was awarded the Babbidge Scholar Award at graduation for a 4.0 grade point average. She is a store manager at our new store in Norwich, CT. She also is the head floral designer at the new store.

                  

Jessica Hart

 

Christopher Hart – Greenhouse &Technical Support. Chris graduated from Woodstock Academy in 2001. He is the second generation of Harts here also. Chris is has recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a  Horticulture degree. He has won numerous awards and scholarships. Chris is in charge of Production & Distribution, operating out of our Bennett Pond Rd. Growing Facility.

Audrey Crider & Chris Hart

Audrey graduated from UConn in 2005  with a Landscape Designer degree. She will be working in the retail stores and on our new landscape design and install division. Ask for her at the Norwich store, she is ready to help with any landscaping questions you may have. She also recently designed the new Clinton Park that Hart’s is installing at the intersection of Wawecus St and Clinton Ave. along the Yantic River. This will be a public walking park complete with shade trees and annual & perennial beds.

 

                           

Amanda Berard-Floral Designer

Amanda comes to us with a great deal of floral experience. She has worked at several floral shops. She has three boys, and also an adorable granddaughter. She works at our Norwich store and is a top notch floral designer.

Alma St. Cyr (pictured 0n left) Cherie Sears on right

Alma works at our Norwich store. She is excellent with landscape plants and brings a calm nature to our sometimes hectic spring days. She lives in Norwich with her husband and children. Alma recently passed the very rigorous Connecticut Nurseryman’s Exam and is a Connecticut Accredited Nursery Professional. Good Job Alma!

 

Zack Carr

Zack works at our Norwich store. He is currently attending Norwich Free Academy and will be going on to college next year. Zack works part time during the school year and full time in the summer. He is and excellent student and part of the Environmental Studies club at his high school. Zack also took the CNLA Exam and passed and is an Accredited Nursery Professional in Ct. Good Job Zack!

 

 

Emeline Boada & Jessica Hart at the Norwich Store

Emeline Boada_ Emeline works at our Norwich store. She started in 2005. She is currently attending Uconn-Avery Point. Emeline’s hobby is horseback riding. She participates in a drill team on horseback during the summer.

 

Cherie Sears- Brooklyn Store. Cherie is store manager at our Brooklyn store. She is married , lives in Central Village and has a poodle named Nala. Cherie has been with Hart’s for seven years. You can find her at the Brooklyn store giving her 110% with the friendliest “Hi! How are you?” greeting in the world.

Monique Letson

Monique lives in Hampton with her husband and has 5 wonderful children. She works part time at the Brooklyn store and is very illusive to the camera!

 

 

Laura Klitzke

Laura Klitzke- Laura works at our Canterbury store full time. She is a very friendly and helpful sales associate. Stop in and say hello to her. She has recently married to her husband Ken and lives in Griswold. Laura loves dogs! She has a miniature daschund named Max.

Keri Dallas and Laura Klitzke

Keri has recently graduated from UCONN, she works with Laura at the Canterbury store. She is an accomplished Horse showwoman and has a quarter horse named Chip.

Allison Dowling

Allison works part time at our Canterbury store. She is a full time high school teacher in R.I. Allison has a husband Matt and they live in Moosup. Allison is a animal lover and has cats & dogs at home. She keeps us all laughing!

 

 

 

Amber Lachapelle

Amber works at our Growing Facility. She also works with the landscaping crew . Amber is a very hard worker. She has taken the Master Gardener class. Amber lives in Coventry with her adorable son Kalem .

 

Dennis Colon

Dennis lives in Puerto Rico and works at the Growing Facility during the summer.

 

Spock - One of the official greeters and mice catchers. Spock got his name from his unusually large ears he had as a kitten.  He can normally be found lying on the gift shop counter.

                                              

Sundae - The other official greeter and mice catcher. Sundae has a vanilla belly and a chocolate top with a cherry for a nose. He can normally be found roaming the greenhouse, or enjoying the catnip!!
